How does it work?

  • Every time you make a purchase with your Solidarity Card, you round the payment up to the nearest euro and donate the difference to the association or foundation of your choice. For example: if you pay €2.80 for your breakfast, you can round the amount up to €3.00, and the difference between these two amounts, €0.20, would be a part of the donation you make this month to the NGOs you've selected.
  • The donated amounts accumulate over the month, and at the beginning of each month you'll see a transaction from the current account associated with the Solidarity Card. This transaction is your monthly donation.
  • You can select a monthly maximum and minimum for your donations, and you're free to change them whenever you want.

How do you donate with your Solidarity Card?

Every time you pay with your Solidarity Card, you round up the amount to the nearest euro and donate the difference to the NGO or foundation of your choice.

For example: If you pay €2.80 for your breakfast, you can round it up to €3.00, and the difference between these two amounts, €0.20, would be a part of the donation you make this month to the NGOs you've selected.

The donated amounts accumulate over the month, and at the beginning of each month you'll see a transaction from the current account associated with the Solidarity Card. This transaction is your monthly donation.

How can you control the amount you donate with your Solidarity Card? 

To control the amount of your donations, you can choose a monthly minimum and maximum. If all the amounts rounded up do not reach the fixed minimum, it will be adjusted and you will donate the lower limit you have set. If the amount to be donated is more than the maximum, you will donate the amount set as the upper limit.

Change these limits at any time by clicking on the 'Settings' of your Solidarity Card in your Customer Area.

Does it include any insurance?

Yes, there's free insurance with Santander Seguros y Reaseguros S.A. If you have an accident and you are the cardholder, the maximum compensation is €6,010.12. 

And if you have purchased a journey on public transport with the card, in addition to covering you as the cardholder, the insurance also covers anyone else whose travel is charged to the card (Maximum compensation: €120,202.42.)

The applicable deduction percentages are determined according to the amount and frequency of your donation.  Up to 80% on the first €150 you donate each year, and 35% for any additional donation.
