What does the Women Opencamp Powered by Ironhack consist of?

This scholarship will allow you to take part in the online Java bootcamp led by Ironhack.

Over the course of 9 weeks, you will learn to build robust applications from end to end using Java: from managing databases to building complex servers and component-based interfaces, perfecting all these newly acquired skills through Test-Driven Development.

The programme will provide you with the knowledge and tools to resolve technological challenges faced by a fully digital bank through real cases at Openbank.

Think you’re the right fit?

At Openbank, we’re looking to source out female talent and help put an end to the gender gap in the tech industry by providing technological training to women. Plus, as part of our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we will reserve one spot for a woman with a disability.

The scholarship is perfect for you if you have a background in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics), a high level of English (B2 (CEFR) or higher) and are motivated by the possibility to train and work in the digital world.

At the end of the bootcamp, if selected, you will join the development team at Openbank, where you will work on building a 100% digital bank in our offices in the centre of Madrid or in Open Hub Valencia or Bilbao, our tech development spaces.

Want to learn more about the Women Opencamp Powered by Ironhack?
If I take part in the bootcamp, will I be hired by Openbank at the end?

Openbank aims to hire as many program participants that have reached the adequate level as possible. The bootcamp will be demanding and you will be put to the test in a bid to turn you into a “ready-to-work” professional. If your standard of work is high and you pass the final selection process, you will join the team at Openbank.

If I leave the bootcamp for whatever reason, will I be charged a penalty?

Bootcamp places are limited and not all candidates will be selected; therefore, lots of people will not receive the scholarship. Once selected, Openbank will invest €7,500 on your training; therefore, if you abandon the programme during the bootcamp phase on any grounds other than force majeure, you will be required to pay back the amount proportionate to the training received.

What happens if I complete the bootcamp but then decide I don’t want to work at Openbank?

When you complete the programme, having acquired the skills to become a valuable member of a development team, plenty of companies will be interested in you. Openbank will have priority in hiring you because it has invested heavily in your training. If even after being selected by Openbank you decide to abandon the programme on any grounds other than force majeure, you will be required to pay back the amount proportionate to the training received.

Once I start working for Openbank, will I be required to stay for a minimum period?

Once you join the team at Openbank, your training will continue through a 2-year mentorship programme during which you will get the chance to put all the skills acquired in the bootcamp into practice. If you voluntarily decide to leave the company during this programme, you will be required to pay back the amount proportional to the training received.

What terms of employment will Openbank offer me at the end of the bootcamp?

You will join the company as part of a new talent programme, focused on furthering your training, through a direct contract with the company and structured performance-based development.
