About the merger
Why is this merger happening?

This merger has come about so you have access to a more comprehensive product offering, a 100% digital experience to manage your day-to-day banking and savings, and financing options to get your projects off the ground. All from one bank, easily and securely.

You will now have the best team, experience and products in the same bank with one single name.

When did the merger take place?

The merger between Santander Consumer Finance and Openbank was formalised on May 12th .
Since then, Santander Consumer Finance, S.A., has been renamed Open Bank, S.A. The integration process is being rolled out progressively. This means that until it is completed, some channels (such as the website) will remain unchanged, making sure you can continue to bank as usual.

What does this merger mean to me as a customer?

You will now have access to a more comprehensive range of products in one single bank, with a 100% digital experience and the backing of the Santander Group.

You can take advantage of products to manage your day-to-day banking, including accounts and cards, savings options to earn interest on your money, a range of investment products, as well as Santander Consumer Finance’s extensive expertise, offering clear, streamlined and tailored financing options, such as loans to purchase vehicles or finance your personal projects.

Plus, you’ll have a specialist team on hand to help you make every decision every step of the way.

Is there a shared app and website?

We are working to offer you a unique and simple experience. Both the Santander Consumer Finance website and app and the Openbank website remain separate at present.

As the project moves forward, we will keep you updated on all changes made to the technology platform and your banking processes.

The accounts will no longer be active at Santander Consumer Finance, but you will still have alternatives at Openbank with the same guarantees and new benefits.

Why does the Santander Consumer Finance website have the same logo from before the merger?

The rebranding will be rolled out progressively.

During the transition period, some channels such as the website may maintain the previous design while we complete the integration process, always ensuring the same operations and service.

I have received a document that still includes the company name Santander Consumer Finance S.A.

If, after the date of the merger, you receive any document that still refers to “Santander Consumer Finance, S.A.” or to “Open Bank, S.A.” with the NIF (Tax ID Number) of the former Open Bank, S.A. (i.e. A28021079), this should be understood, in all cases, as referring to the entity currently named “Open Bank, S.A.”, i.e., the entity previously known as “Santander Consumer Finance, S.A.".
