Openbank, the 100% digital bank belonging to the Santander Group, strengthens its commitment to cultural activity at a key moment by sponsoring Abre Madrid. This new open-air stage area, located next to the Ifema pavilions 1 and 2, will kick off on 7 July with a wide range of performances from different artistic disciplines for all ages. Over the next few weeks, the two stages that can accommodate up to 800 people will host concerts, monologues, film series, family shows and much more, whilst complying with the recommended health and safety measures.

Abre Madrid will start on Tuesday 7 July with a performance by Los Secretos, at an event coordinated by the Red Cross, to which all health care workers are invited in recognition of their work during the pandemic. Following the opening event, the music will continue with performances by Xoel López, Diego el Cigala, Manel, Mastodonte (Asier Etxeandiay and Enrico Bárbaro), Carlos Sadness and Carlos Jean. In addition, artists such as El Monaguillo, Carlos Latre and Martita de Graná will also perform on stage. Lo Mejor de Yllana will reintroduce the public to theatre and CantaJuego will put on a show for the little ones. Fridays will be all about the hit Medias Puri speakeasy where DJs will be playing Puri Beach sessions. More artists are set to be confirmed over the next few days.

By sponsoring this new space, Openbank reaffirms its commitment to cultural activities in a safe environment at a crucial time for the return of stage events after months of suspension under the lockdown due to the pandemic. Over the past few years, Openbank has actively supported culture and sport through the sponsorship of events such as “Circlassica” (directed by Emilio Aragon) or "El Circo de Hielo 2”, amongst others, and as the main sponsor of the MotoE, Openbank Aspar Team.

Abre Madrid was set up by LETSGO and Productores de Sonrisas in a bid to put a new spin on culture and place it within the reach of spectators. The programme will run from 7 July to 6 September, Monday to Sunday, with a wide variety of shows on offer. Tickets will be on sale exclusively for 48 hours for Openbank customers who will have a 10% discount during this pre-sale period (5% thereafter) and from Friday to the public via the abremadrid.com
