Openbank, the 100% digital bank of the Santander Group, is opening three new technology development centres in the Americas to drive its projects in the region. The centres are located in Mexico City, Buenos Aires and Miami, three key cities in the bank’s recent international expansion plan.

These three hubs will be home to world-class tech professionals who will work alongside the other teams at key offices in Madrid, Valencia and Bilbao. New team members will join Open Digital Services (ODS), a Santander Group software development company with the goal of creating new cloud-native platforms, including data lakes and a new generation of customer interaction and front and back-end financial transactions platforms, as well as buy now, pay later solutions.

Staff located in these new geographic departments will form part of a young, international team, working flexibly with the most advanced technologies and developing 100% cloud-native products.

Cristóbal Miralles, Chief Technology and Operations Officer at Openbank, said: “These three new hubs allow us to reinforce our intake of the best tech talent and to consolidate our projects in the region. We are one of the most advanced tech companies, and these centres allow us to scale up our development of next generation tech products and services.”

Openbank started its American journey over a year ago by launching in Argentina. It has now racked up over 1.9 million customers in all the regions where it operates and is currently wrapping up its launch in Mexico and the United States.
